Art from the forest floor

You found Sleepy Pansy, a place where insects gossip over pastries, spiders host garden parties, and every diorama has at least one bug doing something suspiciously adorable. Come meet the tiny cast of characters living their best miniature lives.

Midnight Birthday
$19.99

8 × 10" watercolor print of an original Sleepy Pansy artwork.

There was a birthday party in the meadow.

The guest list was carefully assembled, although somehow everyone ended up invited.

The grasshopper wore his finest party hat. The beetles brought balloons. There was cake (and perhaps a little too much frosting), tiny cups were passed around, and everyone gathered around the picnic table to celebrate.

Nobody remembers whose birthday it was.

Some say it was the grasshopper's. Others insist it was one of the beetles. The birthday bug himself has been too busy eating cake to clarify.

This watercolor is inspired by the very first diorama I ever made, created in my bedroom and filled with the same wonder I carried with me as a kid

Not everyone has the space or the budget to bring home an entire miniature world, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little piece of one.

A tiny birthday party for your wall.

Bumble Bee Picnic
$19.99

8 × 10" watercolor print of an original Sleepy Pansy artwork.

There was a picnic planned.

The blanket was picked out. The teacups were carefully wrapped. The flowers were blooming.

And somewhere in the garden, two little bumblebees were having a date.

Inspired by one of my handmade dioramas, this watercolor illustration captures a tiny moment from a much larger imaginary world. A quiet picnic, a little company, and perhaps the beginning of a very important bug romance (they’re both boys btw).

I created this 8 × 10 watercolor print as a way to share the small worlds I build through my dioramas and illustrations.

Not everyone has the space or the budget to bring home an entire miniature world, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little piece of one.

Think of these prints as tiny windows into the worlds I create: little scenes of bugs, flowers, strange creatures, and the stories I imagine they might be living when nobody is watching.

So, if you don't have room for an entire diorama, perhaps you have room for a tiny bumblebee date instead.

Birthday in the Garden
$19.99

8 × 10" watercolor print of an original Sleepy Pansy artwork.

There was another birthday to celebrate.

This time, the party was held in the garden during the day, where the guests could actually see where they were going and, hopefully, avoid stepping in the cake.

A butterfly arrived dressed for the occasion, a stag beetle came ready to celebrate, and a frog beetle showed up because, frankly, no proper birthday party should exclude a frog beetle.

There were snacks, cake, and plenty of very important bug conversations happening in the garden.

This piece holds a special place in my heart because it was my very first watercolor illustration. I still have so much to learn, and I'm sure I'll look back someday and see all the things I could have done differently, but I'm so happy with how this little world turned out that I wanted to share it anyway.

Sometimes you have to celebrate the beginning of things, even while you're still learning.

This is an 8 × 10 inch print of my original watercolor illustration, made for anyone who would like a little piece of whimsy for their wall.
