Have a question?

Lets see if I can help

  • Yes! Every insect in my work is real! Can you believe how many species exist?

  • All of the insects I use come from licensed suppliers who legally import butterflies and other species from sustainable insect farms and sanctuaries around the world. These programs are government regulated and designed to protect wild populations, not harm them.

Sustainable insect farming is actually supported by conservationists and scientists because it gives communities an incentive to preserve natural habitats instead of destroying them for agriculture or development. When insects are raised on protected land, it keeps entire ecosystems safe from plants to pollinators to the thousands of other species that depend on the same habitat.

These farms also provide fair wages to local families, creating a system that is good for the people, good for the insects, and good for the environment.

I never support suppliers that harm wild populations or collect endangered species, and I avoid anyone who takes insects from protected areas. Every specimen I use is legally obtained, sustainably sourced, and treated with respect, especially if it ends up with a bent wing or a missing antenna in my clumsy little studio.

  • Pretty fragile, please handle them gently.
Everything is sealed behind glass for protection, but insects are delicate by nature. Avoid direct sunlight, humidity, and tossing them across the room (please).

  • Nope! And on purpose, I make art, not scientific displays.
Some wings might be a little crooked, some antennae might be short, that’s part of the charm. Everything is handmade by my clumsy, paint-stained hands. No machines, no perfection.

  • Sometimes! It depends on my schedule and material availability.
If you’d like a custom piece, you can email me at Bugs@sleepyPansy.com and tell me what you have in mind.

Do you ever take custom requests using a bug I already own?
Sometimes! If you have a sentimental or special insect you want displayed, send me a message, we can talk about how to preserve it safely.

  • You can ask!
I can’t guarantee I have every insect in stock, but if I don’t, I may be able to source one. Rare specimens will cost more.

  • Oh no!
Email me within 48 hours with photos of the item AND the packaging. I’ll do my best to repair, replace, or refund when appropriate.

  • Not yet, but I’m working on it! Right now I only ship within the U.S. due to wildlife restrictions and fragile materials.

  • Yes! I sell locally in North Carolina and post where I’ll be on my Instagram @sleepy.pansy. If you found me at a market, hi, you’re my favorite now <3

  • Processing time is usually 3–7 days since everything is packed carefully by hand. After that, USPS transit times apply (typically 2–5 business days).

  • Yes! Just leave a note at checkout, I love wrapping things like tiny treasures.

  • Not at this time. Every piece is one-of-a-kind and made individually.

  • I don’t recommend it. Moisture can warp paper, loosen glue, and make bugs sad :(

  • Only ticks, fleas, and centipedes. Everything else is a little friend!
